Mission: When a big film is released in theatres, the audience has a lot of expectations from it, especially when it comes to a superstar like Tom Cruise. The ‘Mission: Impossible’ series has achieved a different status in the last several years. Whenever a film of this franchise is released, fans eagerly wait and hope that it will achieve a bigger success than the previous films. But nothing like this happened this time.

The film remained behind 200 million dollars even after 50 days

The audience had a lot of expectations from ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’, but despite the long journey of 50 days, the film could not cross the 200 million dollar mark in North America. This is definitely a bit disappointing for the fans, but somewhere it also shows that perhaps now the era of this franchise is slowly coming to an end.

Despite Tom Cruise’s hard work and a big budget, the film was weak

The film got a lot of attention due to Tom Cruise’s strong performance, dangerous stunts performed by himself and a big budget. But still, ‘Mission: Impossible The Final Reckoning’ could not earn as much at the box office as was expected. It has so far earned a total of $192.9 million in the US, and on Friday,y its earnings were just $400,000, which shows a decline of 53% from last week.

Tough competition from ‘Lilo and Stitch 7’

This film had another big challenge – Disney’s film ‘Lilo & Stitch 7’, which surpassed Tom Cruise’s film at the box office and remained at the #1 position continuously. ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ remained at #2 most of the time, but still the craze of the audience is not being seen now, which used to be there earlier.

The status and future of the franchise so far

It is worth noting that this film has become the fifth highest-grossing film of the ‘Mission: Impossible’ series, but despite this, it could not join the $1 billion club. In fact, no film of this series has been able to cross the $1 billion mark to date, which is definitely a bit surprising for a global superstar like Tom Cruise.

Is this the last stop of the series

‘MI 7’, which was released before ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’, also could not perform well, due to which it is not difficult to guess that now the interest of the audience is probably decreasing from this action franchise. Now that the makers have decided to end this series, it seems to be a wise step.

The end of an era, but the memories will remain alive

It cannot be denied that Tom Cruise’s stardom still remains, but every story has an end, and this final chapter of ‘Mission: Impossible’ is moving in that direction. This film may not be able to do wonders on a big scale, but this franchise will always be remembered as a memorable journey.
