Panchayat: If you have watched the first three seasons of ‘Panchayat’, then you know that this web series is known for its heart-touching characters, village simplicity, and light-hearted humor. Now the fourth season has been released on Amazon Prime Video on 24 June 2025, and people have once again returned to the streets of Phulera village.
But the question arises – does ‘Panchayat Season 4’ touch the heart like before, or does it get lost somewhere in the labyrinth of politics? Let’s know about the story of this new season, the acting of the actors, and the technical aspects in detail.
Politics is hot in Phulera, but far from the heart
The story starts from where the last season ended. Abhishek Tripathi, i.e., our own Secretary Ji (Jitendra Kumar), is still preparing for CAT, but this time the politics of the village do not leave him. Pradhan Ji (Raghuveer Yadav) files a case against MLA Chandu Singh and Bhushan alias Banrakas (Durgesh Kumar) after a shootout. Abhishek is accused of assaulting Bhushan.
The story gradually gets entangled in a political web. The conflict between Bhushan and Pradhanji, Abhishek’s personal struggle, and the tensions rising in the village form the basis of this season. But while the earlier seasons touched the hearts of the audience, this time the story seems a bit heavy and cumbersome.
The acting is alive, but the story is missing
Jitendra Kumar, as always, gives a restrained and impressive performance. His easy and calm style has become the identity of this series. Durgesh Kumar has drawn the most attention this time as ‘Bhushan’. His character is fierce, and he has completely adapted to it. Sunita Rajwar also makes a strong presence as his wife Kranti Devi.
Raghuveer Yadav, Neena Gupta, Faisal Malik, and Ashok Pathak once again bring credibility to their characters. But among all these, Rinki (Sanvika) is felt the most. His character has been shown very little this time, and no special depth has been added to his story.
Panchayat: Many good scenes, but a lack of emotional depth
The debate over laddu, income tax raid, and MLA’s sarcastic words are some of the moments that remind us of the old ‘Panchayat’. But such moments are very few. The middle part of the story seems quite slow and stretched. Neither does the story hold on emotionally, nor is the humor that effective. Earlier, where a smile used to come on the face after every episode, but now the audience just keeps waiting for the next twist.
Technical aspects, ordinary direction, flat screenplay
This time the responsibility of direction has been taken over by Akshat Vijayvargiya and Deepak Kumar Mishra. The direction is balanced, but it does not have the inspiration and energy that was seen in the previous seasons. The story written by Chandan Kumar clearly lacks the simplicity and freshness of earlier times. The screenplay seems to stagnate at times.
The camera work, i.e., cinematography, is average, neither shows anything new nor brings any freshness to the old scenes. The editing is also dull, and many scenes seem unnecessarily long. The background music is in keeping with the mood of the story, but does not seem to leave an impact anywhere.
Verdict: The fourth season does not fully live up to expectations
Panchayat Season 4 tries to show political conflicts and village complexities, but loses its original soul simplicity, emotional connect, and humor. Performances by some actors like Jitendra Kumar and Durgesh Kumar keep the show alive, but overall, this season turns out to be weaker than expected.
If you are an old fan of Panchayat, you will probably be able to enjoy some moments, but this time you will have to be patient to make a heartfelt connection. The story seems incomplete, and in the end, the audience is left waiting for answers to many questions.
